The MHQA is proud to be recognized as a Maintenance of Certification Portfolio Program sponsor by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
Portfolio Program Overview
Physicians have a professional obligation to improve the quality,
safety and efficiency of care they provide to patients. This obligation
is embodied in the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) core
competencies of systems-based practice and practice-based learning.
Physicians demonstrate their ongoing development and competence in these
areas through Part IV, Practice Performance Assessment, of the ABMS
Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program. ABMS Member Boards expect
physicians to be competent in assessing the quality of care they and
their teams deliver, and be competent in systematically improving them.
The MOC Portfolio Program offers a streamlined approach for
organizations to sponsor and support well-designed quality improvement
efforts for physicians across multiple disciplines, and coordinate with
the ABMS Member Boards, to grant MOC Part IV credit to the physicians
involved in those improvement activities.
