History

The MHQA was incorporated as an Illinois not-for-profit limited liability corporation on Oct. 25, 2013, and began business operations on Jan. 15, 2014. Its founding partners are Memorial Health System, SIU HealthCare (now SIU Medicine) and Springfield Clinic. Its headquarters are in Springfield, IL at the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation.

Our Founding Partners

Memorial Health System, based in Springfield, Illinois, is a community-based, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to patient care, education and research. Founded in 1897 as the Springfield Hospital and Training School, Memorial Health System has grown to include four hospitals, three affiliated healthcare organizations and nearly 6,000 staff members, partnering physicians and volunteers across central Illinois. Memorial is dedicated to a mission of improving the health of communities and people it serves, with the vision of becoming a national leader in health care.

SIU Medicine’s mission is to serve Southern Illinois University School of Medicine by providing exceptional healthcare experiences and outcomes for its patients and communities and by offering a supportive practice environment which motivates its faculty and staff. SIU School of Medicine, founded in 1970 and located in Springfield as an extension of the main university academic campus in Carbondale, is one of only 26 community-based medical schools in the U.S. Its 270 physicians and 300 healthcare professional staff are dedicated to assisting the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their healthcare needs through education, patient care, research and service to the community.
